Every computer connected to the Internet needs an IP address, and from time to time you might need to find your IP address. There are two ways to find the IP address of a Windows 8.1 computer, one in the Modern UI interface, the second through the Desktop Control Panel.
To find the IP address of your Windows 8.1 computer using the Modern UI interface, first summon the Charms Bar by swiping down from the upper right-hand corner of your screen, dragging the mouse cursor down from the upper right-hand corner of the screen, or by hitting the WINDOWS+C keys simultaneously. Once the Charms Bar appears, click or tap on the Settings charm, and then click or tap the Change PC Settings link.
Once the PC Settings app launches, click or tap on the Network category in the left-hand pane, and then select the Connections category. Your computer’s network connections will appear in the right-hand pane. Click or tap on the network connection for which you want to find the IP address, and Windows 8.1 will then display your computer’s IP address.
To find the IP address of your Windows 8.1 computer from the Desktop, first summon the Administrative Menu by hitting the WINDOWS+X keys simultaneously. When the Administrative Menu appears, click on the Control Panel option. After Control Panel opens, click on the Network And Sharing Center.
In the Network And Sharing Center, you will see your computer’s network connection. Click on the connection for which you want to find the IP address, and the Status properties box for the connection will open. Then click on the Details button, and you will see a large amount of information about the connection, including its IP address.
